Mentor to Councillor Tuggstar Before Black MPs hit the tin Cuthbert Williams was the chief political campaigner of the 1950s. He arrived from Jamaica as a student in 1947 to study politics. He was swept into the overwhelming political awareness of the time, becoming friends to many of Marcus Garvey’s personal allies. Many of his colleagues looked to him for guidance, so when workers and passengers alike were being discriminated, Williams took up the mantle. He was persuaded to leave the bus company and became the Bristol civil rights representative. It wasn’t long till the ugly side of politics erupted; he was accused of corruption and was forced to step down. He moved to London in the late 1970s and watched the rise and fall of the Afrocentric movement. During the quiet period of the 90s he befriended an intriguing young Tuggstar. He was excited by his passion and big ideas. Williams mentored Tuggstar into community organizing, and the mainstream political process. Cuthbert has poured everything into Tuggstar convinced he is a unique man of the time. [More characters] [More about BKS] Best Kept Secret Present TUGGSTAR FOR PRESIDENT |
